The Lady of Elche was discovered in 1897 at the archaeological site of La Alcudia near the city of Elche in southeastern Spain. It was found accidentally by a farm worker while clearing land, partially buried and remarkably well preserved. The bust immediately drew attention due to its unusual realism, intricate headgear, and apparent cultural sophistication unlike typical Iberian sculptures known at the time. It features an elaborate headgear with large circular coils that some researchers interpret as purely ceremonial, while others note its striking resemblance to mechanical or acoustic components
